William C. Bellin
Age 91, of Green Tree, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Bill was the beloved husband of the late Marie A. (Chiodo) Bellin; father of Elaine M. Bellin (Phyllis Coontz) and the late Joseph A. Bellin; grandfather of Joshua William and David Leo Bellin; beloved brother of Jean (Bellin) Taylor of Atlanta, and the late Tom Bellin of Los Angeles and Rosemary (Bellin) Martens of Washington, D.C. Bill was the loving uncle to 18 nieces and nephews. Bill was born and raised in Mt. Washington and always considered that his home. He maintained lifelong friendships with Jack O’Toole, Anton Romano and Bill Schmidt from childhood. After attending St. Mary’s School he served in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed working in the family produce business his entire career starting at Gateway Fruit Company in historic Market Square, downtown. Bill, along with his father Joseph F., started Paragon Foods in the North Side in 1962. Paragon is recognized today as the largest independent fresh food distributor in Western Pennsylvania. He was a devout Catholic his entire life and a member of the TOR Franciscans. Bill enjoyed playing golf throughout his life, most especially in his later years with his grandson Josh. Bill and Marie loved their Pittsburgh Steelers and were among the first ticket season holders at Three Rivers Stadium. A tradition that the family cherishes to this day. Washington (412 381-2323), with a Funeral Mass to follow in Mary, Queen of Peace Parish/St. Mary of the Mount Church at 12 noon.
