Martha Jane Mooney

Martha “Jane” Mooney, 73, passed peacefully into the arms of the Father on Saturday, January 15, 2022, of complications related to dementia. Jane is survived by her long-time partner Joe Zurick, sons Jim (Lisa) and John (Andra), grandchildren Keirsten Beining (John Barnes) and Alexa, Caitlin, Megan, and Mason Mooney, and great granddaughter Kylee. She is also survived by siblings Terry Cocuzzi, Jean Cusick (Tom), and Pat Thomas, of a family of 14 total siblings who were born of the late George and Martha Thomas of the Northside of Pittsburgh, as well as a large number of cherished nieces and nephews. 

We’ll always remember with joy and fondness, Jane’s creative nature and playful spirit, friendly smile and good humor, love of every variety of holiday decor, legendary lasagna, phone calls on our birthdays in which she celebrated each of us with rousing renditions of “Happy Birthday,” but especially, and above all, the deep love and zest with which she embraced motherhood and the warmth and tender care that she showered on her beloved grandchildren.

With heartfelt gratitude, the family acknowledges the steadfast care and compassion provided to Jane for the past two years by the dedicated team of professionals at Promedica Greentree (formerly known as Manor Care) and Heartland Hospice.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from  2-8 p.m.  at the Brusco - Falvo Funeral Home, Inc. 214 Virginia Ave. Mt. Washington (412-381-2323), where a  Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Face masks are encouraged. www.bruscofalvo.com
