Frances Dillon Obituary

Frances R. Dillon

Of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of Mt. Washington, on Sunday, December 11, 2016. Frances was 96 and the oldest of six children (two brothers and three sisters), all of whom preceded her in death. Frances is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond, and their beloved George. Frances is survived by her daughter, Patricia and her son-in-law, Joseph. Frances was born in Coral, PA and grew up in Homer City. After marrying Raymond, she moved to the Soho District of Pittsburgh and later lived in Mt. Washington for over forty years. In more recent years, Frances had lived in Mt. Lebanon. Frances had worked as an instructor and assistant in the dental field. She was a talented artist and a skilled seamstress. Frances often applied her artwork to ceramics and had won many ribbons for her work. She learned to bake and crochet as a young girl and often made gifts for her friends and relatives. Raymond had worked in the copper range industry and had proudly served in the Armed Forces during World War II. Raymond fought in Normandy and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and numerous other medals. Raymond enjoyed puzzles, sketching and was an award-winning pinochle player and an award-winning pool player. He loved to make people smile. Frances and her family loved to travel together, to plan the future, reminisce about the past, and live in the moment. Frances will be deeply missed by loved ones left behind, and she will be welcomed and comforted by loved ones she is reunited with in heaven.
