Cornelia Anne Davis, Ph.D.
Age 85, of Mt. Washington, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Daughter of the late James E. Davis and Betty McCoy Davis. Close friend of Philip Parr and Darla D’Anna, and many professional acquaintances, educators, and students here in the United States and abroad. She was an experienced educator who served leadership roles in the arts, international education, college admissions and educational/social services. She served as Director of Arts & Humanities Program in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She administered the after school program with Manchester’s Craftsman’s Guild and played a major role with the relocation of the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts from Homewood Brushton to its new location in downtown Pittsburgh and implemented and led a three-year project to create a new curriculum for CAPA to implement in its new downtown location. Her educational background and career after graduating from Apollo High School were quite extensive. Beginning in 1978 working for the US Department of State, Madrid, Spain as an International Education Consultant; The American School of Zaragoza, Spain as Assistant Director; University of Pittsburgh as Program Coordinator, Council of Graduate Students in Education well as Director of the Intergenerational Arts and Education Program, Generations Together, University of Pittsburgh Center for Urban and Social Research. She earned her BS in education at the Indiana University of PA., attended the University of the Americas, Mexico City, Mexico for graduate Studies Fine Arts, and Spanish Language. She also continued her education at The George Washington University, School of Arts and Humanities receiving an M.F.A. Ceramics and in 1967, earned her PH.D in Administrative and Policies Studies/Curriculum & Supervision from the University of Pittsburgh. Friends and family are invited to gather for Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11a.m. at the Brusco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc, 214 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington (412 381-2323).
