ARTHUR W. “ARTIE” EBERT
Age 70, of Duquesne Heights, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 to be with his late parents, Dorothy E. and Russell H. Ebert in Heaven. Artie was born July 14, 1953, and lived all of his life in Pittsburgh. A graduate of South Hills H.S., Artie followed in his father’s footsteps in the food industry and worked under Chef Joe Parrotto at the University Club in Oakland. He continued in the food business and worked with his father, who was one of the first Certified Executive Chefs Pittsburgh. They worked together for years at the Sheraton at Station Square and at Warrendale. The two were instrumental in establishing the family-owned restaurant, Calabria’s in Castle Shannon in 1992 and worked with grandsons/nephews, Michael, and David until they retired. Artie was a big Pittsburgh Sport Fan. He loved his Penguins, Pirates and Steelers and had a team jacket for each team. He is survived by his brother Richard (Vickie) Ebert, his sisters, Dee (Dave) Calabria, and Patti (Billy) Keller; and nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces that he adored. Artie was a special character and the family will always have memorable stories of his antics when together so that he will never be forgotten. He will be sorely missed.
