Age 81, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, in Pittsburgh. Fred was born February 16, 1936 to Joseph and Evelyn Smallhoover. He attended school at St. Mary of the Mount, where he also coached basketball for many years. He married Patricia Ellis on September 6, 1958 at Holy Innocents parish. He worked in sales for a number of years most notably with Pitney Bowes before starting his own company, Pittsburgh Mailing, thirty-five years ago. He was an avid golfer all his life. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren including many vacations at Disney World and Hilton Head Island. Fred is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia, his children: Kurt (Maryanne) Smallhoover, Gwen (Michael) Kvederis, Fred (Julie) Smallhoover and Megan Smallhoover. Additionally he is survived by his brother William Smallhoover and his 8 grandchildren: Amanda, Laura, Fred (Lisa), David, Sara, and Samuel Smallhoover, and Michael and Benjamin Kvederis. Fred is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Mark, Joseph, and Jack. Visitations on Wednesday 6-8 & Thursday 2-4, 6-8 p.m. at the Brusco - Falvo Funeral Home, Inc.  214 Virginia Ave. Mt. Washington (412 381-2323).
