George Michael Romanik
1944- 2024
George Romanik was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 23, 1944 to John and Henrietta Romanik. George was the youngest boy of the Romanik family, Carl, Tom and John and older brother to Henrietta “Sissy” Carter. He is survived by his sister, Henrietta “Sissy” Carter (Nick), Tom Romanik and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who always thought he was a “Great” Uncle George.
George grew up in Brentwood and was a member to St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church and attended St. Elizabeth Catholic School. George played football at St. Vincent Prep and attended The University of Pittsburgh. After his schooling George worked in several of the family businesses with his brother Carl and Tom, such as, The Greensburg Car Wash, Heister Bowling Center and The Cloverleaf Bowling Center when he transplanted from Pittsburgh to Miami, Florida.
George was an avid car enthusiast and was very active as he spent his lifetime playing tennis, bowling in leagues and golfing near daily. Uncle George was his growing family’s biggest fan by always showing up to little league games, high school athletic events and sharing his passion for sports with his many nieces and nephews.
George was known as a complex individual and a man of many words, who loved his alone time, eating when no one was looking, retelling stories of the family and past events and being the life of the party at the nearest disco in his hay days. His family will always remember his sense of humor, his strong will, and his optimism for better days ahead.
George never kept a long story short, wished to have at least one ounce of Tom and Sissy’s “Happy Juice” and always felt 100%!
The Romanik family will be honoring the life of George Michael Romanik on Saturday, January 27, 2024 in Pittsburgh, PA. Nearly all of Uncle George’s nieces and nephews and many of their children will be in attendance in tribute to his role in our lives and the legacy that precedes us.
